Peru Sees Its Economy Will Continue to Grow About 6.1 Percent This Year

According to report, Peru sees its economy will continue to grow about 6.1 percent this year on expansion of mining and construction activities. The GDP of the country grew 6.3% in 2012.

The expansion of two sectors is related to domestic steel market, especially for long products. The imported tubes and flat steel from China also rose in 2012.

It is expected the deficit of houses is about US$2.1 million; therefore the demand for infrastructure projects and housing projects will keep increasing.

The domestic long steel makers, including Siderperu and Aceros Arequipa produce 960,000 tons and 900,000 tons respectively and will set up new mill for 650,000 tons capacity.
