The Goa Government Plans to Export Decades-Old Accumulated Iron Ore Dumps

Business Line reported that the Goa Government plans to export decades-old accumulated iron ore dumps.

Mr Manohar Parrikar CM of Goa said that the state plans to clean up huge dumps at various mine sites.

He said that "We have huge ore dumps some of 6 decade vintage dotting the state with tiny land mass and population. We need to clean this mess up."

He said that the exercise would be undertaken within 3 to 4 months.

He added that the State's Department of Mining and Geology have been asked to prepare a plan for export of ore fines.

Mr Parrikar said that export is the only option for the low grade 42% to 52% Fe ore available in the state.
