Overview of China-EU Bilateral Trade From Jan. to Sep. in 2015

From January to September in 2015, imports & exports value between China and EU was USD 426.83 billion, down 7.4%. EU’s exports to China was USD 140.33 billion, down 13.7% and imports from China was USD 286.5 billion, down 3.9%. EU trade deficit was USD 146.16 billion, up 7.9%. China was the second largest market for EU’s exports and the largest sourcing country for EU’s imports.

The main products EU exports to China were mechanical & electrical products, transportation equipment and chemicals. From January to September, these products’ exports value accounted for 62.7% of the total exports and the value was USD 41.8 billion, 32.37 billion, 13.78 billion respectively. The proportion changes were -20.1%, -25.0% and -4.8%. Besides, plants products exports increased significantly, up 160.2%.

The main products EU imported from China were mechanical & electrical products, textiles & raw materials, furniture and toys. From January to September, these products’ exports value accounted for 67.9% of the total exports and the value was USD 134.3 billion, 33.84 billion and 26.34 billion respectively. The proportion changes were -1.4%, -9.9% and -0.2%. Besides, transportation equipment EU imported from China declined sharply and the fall was 13.2%. However, imports of optical devices, watches and medical devices increased 0.2%.
