Turkey's Steel Exports Decreased by 5.3 Percent Year on Year to 13.61 Million Mt

In the January-September period of this year, Turkey's steel exports decreased by 5.3 percent year on year to 13.61 million mt, while the value of these exports totaled $11.55 billion, down 2.9 percent, both on year-on-year basis, according to the data released by the Turkish Iron and Steel Producers' Association (TCUD). In the given period, Turkey's steel pipe exports totaled 1.5 million mt, up 1.9 percent, while billet exports decreased by 63 percent to 501,000 mt, long steel exports fell by 0.1 percent to 8.36 million mt and flat steel exports decreased by 0.8 percent to 1.84 million mt, all on year-on-year basis. Meanwhile, in the first nine months of the current year, Turkey's slab exports surged to 25,000 mt, while almost no slab exports were recorded from Turkey in the same period of 2013.

In September alone, Turkey's steel exports increased by 6.1 percent year on year to 1.45 million mt, while the value of these exports totaled $1.3 billion, up 5.2 percent, both on year-on-year basis. In the given month, Turkey's billet exports decreased by 29.6 percent to 42,000 mt, long steel exports increased by 0.7 percent to 870,000 mt, flat steel exports rose by 55.5 percent to 183,000 mt and steel pipe exports increased by 15.8 percent to 177,000 mt, all on year-on-year basis.
