Business Line reported that BGR Energy is set to start work on the INR 1,548 crore contracts to supply two 800 MW Steam Turbine Generators for NTPC's Lara Super Thermal Power Project in Chattisgarh.
Mr BG Raghupathy CMD of BGR Energy said that the NTPC project is a 4,000 MW project of 5 x 800 MW and the Chennai based BGR Energy will provide two steam turbine generators for the project. The company received the Notification of Award on December 13th.
Mr Raghupathy said that the bid for the project was opened on September 15th 2011, but there had been delay in land acquisition and clearances. Following the approval the two units will be supplied in 44 and 48 months.
He said that the company with its capability in engineering procurement-contracts and balance of plant work for power projects has emerged the lowest bidder in the NTPC's bulk tender for supply of 11 x 660 MW super critical boilers.
He added that work on the company's joint venture with Hitachi, BGR Turbines Company Pvt Ltd, for production of 660 MW, 800 MW and 1000 MW turbines and generators will start in April 2013.
He further added that the INR 3,000 crore project is to come up to the South of Chennai on the Madurantakam ECR link road on a 450 acre plot. Land has been acquired. It entered into an agreement with the Tamil Nadu Government for the project. BGR holds 74% of the equity and Hitachi 24%.
