Industrial Production in The Largest Latin American Country Decreased by 0.5 Percent

Brazil's national statistics agency (IBGE) has reported that in March this year industrial production in the largest Latin American country decreased by 0.5 percent compared to February and was down 0.9 percent from March 2013. In February, industrial output in Brazil had increased by 0.4 percent month on month.

According to the report, in March this year the production of intermediate and consumer goods manufacturers in Brazil increased by 0.1 percent, while output of capital goods decreased by 3.6 percent, output of durable consumer goods moved down by 2.5 percent and output of non-durable consumer goods remained stable, all compared to the previous month.

In March of the current year, Brazil's metal products output decreased by 8.2 percent year on year, while motor vehicles and trailers output decreased by 2.9 percent month on month and was down 13.6 percent year on year. Meanwhile in the first quarter this year, Brazil's metal products output decreased by 7.7 percent year on year.
