Taiwan-based solar wafer and compact disc maker Gigastorage reported December 2012 revenues of NT$275 million (US$9.47 million), representing an on-month increase of 48.89%, and an on-year increase of 6.20%. Accumulated revenues for the whole year 2012 were NT$2.861 billion, showing an on-year increase of 19.72%.
According to Gigastorage, the significant increase in December revenues was due to increasing popularity of high efficiency solar wafers such as the G3+. Some China-based tier-one solar firms have been seeking Taiwan-made solar wafers and cells, said Gigastorage. In December, shipments of G3+ solar wafers increased significantly, according to the firm. Gigastorage also began developing N-type mono-crystalline product with high conversion efficiency in 2012.
Gigastorage provides solar materials such as front silver pastes, back silver pastes, back aluminum pastes, solar wafers, and ribbons. With a range of solutions, Gigastorage has been able to help customers increase conversion efficiency and lower material costs.
