Spain's Total Motor Vehicle Output Amounted to 204,604 Units,Falling by 4.4% Year on Year

In February this year, Spain's total motor vehicle output amounted to 204,604 units, falling by 4.4 percent year on year, according to the data reported by the Spanish Automobile and Truck Manufacturers' Association (ANFAC). The association noted that motor vehicle output was lower than expected in February due to the decline in the German, French and Italian markets which are the main target markets for Spanish exports.

In the given month, the Spanish passenger car segment recorded a decline of 0.9 percent year on year in output, totaling 165,525 units. In the industrial vehicle segment in February, a year-on-year decrease of 15.1 percent was recorded in output, totaling 35,550 units.

87 percent of total Spanish motor vehicle production was exported in the month in question, while motor vehicle exports fell by 2.2 percent year on year to 177,995 units. In February, Spain's passenger car exports remained stable year on year, totaling 140,145 units, while industrial vehicle exports saw a year-on-year decrease of 11.1 percent, totaling 32,532 units.

Meanwhile, in the first two months of 2013, Spain's total motor vehicle output amounted to 383,700 units, rising by 2.55 percent year on year. In the January-February period, the passenger car segment recorded an increase of 5.2 percent year on year in output, totaling 303,591 units. Spanish motor vehicle exports in the period in question totaled 329,120 units, rising by 3.9 percent, mainly due to the 5.4 percent rise in passenger car exports, both compared to the January-February period of 2012.
