It is learned that Mexico registered deficit of steel trade by 2.3 million tons from January to October this year, which let Mexico become the biggest deficit country among all Latin American countries.

According to the regional steel body Alacero’s data, the whole region’s deficit totaled at 10.2 million tons in the first 10 months this year.

Countries with most deficits after Mexico are: Colombia, Peru, Chile and Ecuador, the deficit of steel trade in these countries was between 1.1 million to 1.7 million tons.

Alacero said the global oversupply of steel products is the main reason of deficit in this region, and worries that there is not a workable control mechanism to stop such deficit.
