Raw Steel Production Was 1,764,000 Net Tons While Capability Utilization Rate Was 71.4%

In the week ending November 24, 2012, domestic raw steel production was 1,764,000 net tons while the capability utilization rate was 71.4%. Production was 1,809,000 tons in the week ending November 24th 2011, while the capability utilization then was 73.0%.

The current week production represents a 2.5% decrease from the same period in the previous year. Production for the week ending November 24th 2012 is down 1.6% from the previous week ending November 17th 2012 when production was 1,792,000 tons and the rate of capability utilization was 72.5%

Adjusted year to date production through November 24, 2012 was 88,113,000 tons, at a capability utilization rate of 75.9 percent. That is a 3.1 percent increase from the 85,437,000 tons during the same period last year, when the capability utilization rate was 74.4 percent.
