According to statistics, Korea imported 274,330 tons of heavy plates in January, down by 0.8% from a month ago.
Among them, 175,731 tons were imported from China, rising by 14.5% and 91,299 tons were from Japan, decreasing by 22.8%, both compared to the figures in a month ago.
It’s known that Korea’s heavy plate imports from China have continues rising since January due to low-priced offers.
In January, the country’s import prices of heavy plates from Japan averaged at US$830/ton, decreasing by US$7/ton while the import prices of China-origin heavy plates averaged at US$610/ton, decreasing by US$23/ton, both compared to the prices in a month ago.
