MHA Lighting has been recognised at the Architectsa Journal Retrofit Awards for its sealed LED lighting unit, winning Best Product Innovation.
MHA says the LED system, which is completely sealed in order to prohibit the spread of germs and bacteria through light fittings,is particularly effective in combatting superbugs such as MRSA.The product has been installed with the North Devon Healthcare NHS Trust.
The Architectsa Journal,Lightingas sister title, commended the product as a potential solution for hospital refurbishments owing to the increased lifespan of LED technology.
MHAas product, which previously met with strong support from shadow health minister Andy Burnham, was the only lighting solution to be shortlisted in the awards.
The main winners of the evening were Eric Parry Architects, who beat the Kingas Cross renovation to take home Building of the Year for their work on the Holburne Museum.
