Brazilian Announced That Brazil Topped All Its Previous Aluminium Can Recycling Effort

The Brazilian Aluminium Association and the Brazilian Association of Aluminium Cans of High Recyclability have announced that Brazil topped all its previous aluminium can recycling efforts by accomplishing a historic rate of over 98% in 2011.

The two trade associations have stated that ranked number one in the world since 2001 in terms of aluminium can recycling, this latest milestone cements Brazil's position as the global leader. The nation succeeded in recycling a total of 248 700 tonnes of beverage cans out of the 253 100 tonnes present on the market.

ABAL and ABRALATAS also point to large investments throughout 2011 to keep up with the 7% plus growth in consumption widely anticipated for 2012. With steady YoY demand increases forecast until at least 2025, the nation's industry responded by raising its aluminium can production capacity by 9.5% this year from 21 billion to 23 billion units.
