AISI Reported That US Raw Steel Production Fell 1.6% in The Week Ending March 9

The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported Monday that US raw steel production fell 1.6 percent in the week ending March 9, following a 0.8 percent increase a week ago and a 1.6 percent drop the week prior.

Total raw steel production in the United States amounted to 1,828,000 net tons (nt) last week, representing a 1.6 percent decrease from the 1,857,000 nt produced in the previous week and a 7.8 percent decrease from the 1,982,000 nt produced in the same week a year ago.

The capacity utilization rate of US raw steelmaking facilities was 76.3 percent in the week ending March 9, compared to 77.5 percent in the previous week and 79.6 percent in the same week last year.
