In January This Year Swedish Crude Steel Production Amounted to 370,600 Metric Tons

According to the latest data released by the Swedish Steel Producers' Association (Jernkontoret), in January this year Swedish crude steel production amounted to 370,600 metric tons, decreasing by 10.6 percent year on year and up 18 percent as compared to December 2012. The country's crude steel output has been declining on year-on-year basis since June 2011.

In 2012, Swedish crude steel production recorded a year-on-year decrease of 11.1 percent, amounting to 4.3 million mt. The country's pig iron output in 2012 amounted to 2.8 million mt, down 7.4 percent from 2011.

Jernkontoret indicates that Sweden's exports of finished steel, including blooms and billets in the first 11 months of 2012 amounted to 3.3 million mt, down 8.6 percent compared to the same period of 2011. Swedish finished steel imports in the first 11 months totaled 3.25 million mt, down 8.4 percent compared to the same period of 2011.
