According to report made by Posco Research Institute (Posri), Korea’s demand for heavy plates would fall to 8.27 million tons in 2015, a drop of 8% every year.
Posri said that Korea’s domestic demand for heavy plates would be at 10.04 million tons this year, falling by 6% year on year. The demand from the country’s shipbuilders would decrease by 9% year on year to 6.47 million tons.
It’s analyzed that the shipbuilders’ received order volumes dropped obviously due to weak shipbuilding industry. Accordingly, it affected the demand for heavy plates.
