Financial Times reported that in 2014 the United States may be losing its status as the world's largest economy, giving way to China earlier than expected. Most economists had predicted China's economy will become the first in 2019. Since 1872 the United States beyond the UK, which has been the world's largest economy.
The data is compiled by the bank's international comparison program, which is the most authoritative estimate for purchasing power of money in different countries, and has been adopted by most of the public sector and private sector agencies, such as the international monetary fund (IMF).
This is the first time to update the date since 2005.
