Brazilian Steelmakers Are Seeking to Raise The Prices of Steel Flat Products

It’s reported that the Brazilian steelmakers are seeking to raise the prices of steel flat products in order to improve profits.

The Brazilian steel industry stayed in difficult situation in 2012 due to slow economy in international and domestic market.

It’s learned that Companhia Siderurgica Nacional (CSN) announced to hike its prices of hot rolled coils (HRC) by 7.2% on January 18th. Also, the company increased the prices of cold rolled coils (CRC) and hot dipped galvanized steel products by 3.5% respectively.

At the same time, Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais S.A (Usiminas) increased the prices of heavy plates and hot rolled coils by 5% respectively. ArcelorMittal Brasil hiked the prices of hot rolled sheets by 8% and increased the prices of cold rolled coils and galvanized steel sheets by 4% respectively.
