The Total Cost of Ground Transportation Increased 1.2 Percent in August From July

The total cost of ground transportation increased 1.2 percent in August from July, according to the Canadian General Freight Index (CGFI).

“Total Cost of Freight is down three percent from a year ago,” said Doug Payne, President & COO, Nulogx. “Base Freight costs are 3.4 percent below last year.”

The Base Rate Index — which doesn't include Accessorial Charges — held steady with no change from July to August.

Meanwhile, Average Fuel Surcharges assessed by carriers increased; 20.12 percent of Base Rates in August compared with July's 19.25 percent.
