Summer Season Make Indian Apparel Retailers Excited

After having witnessed a disappointing spring/summer season last year, Indian apparel brands and online retailers are gung-ho over sales that have been reported from the beginning of this season.

Online fashion retailers as well as brands fibre2fashion spoke to, are reporting 20-30 percent growth rates in the current spring/summer season vis-à-vis last year's season.

For instance, Pepe Jeans say its sales have seen a growth of 20% over the same period last year, while fashion retailer Myntra is witnessing uptake across both apparel and footwear categories, while apparel brand 109°F says that they are seeing a growth of 30% in like-to-like store sales.

Radhesh Kagzi – President of 109°F says, "Spring/Summer 2014 started on an excellent note for 109°F. Our collection has been well appreciated all over and therefore, it got reflected in the sales with a sizeable growth this summer vis-a-vis last year. We have seen a growth of 30% in like to like store sales which is indeed phenomenal."

Neha Shah, Marketing Manager of Pepe too sounds extremely bullish when she says, "Compared to last season, sales have considerably grown this year. For Pepe, we have seen a growth of 20% this season".

Ganesh Subramanian, COO at Myntra optimistically says, "This summer season, we are already witnessing uptake across both apparel and footwear categories, due to addition of exclusive international brands and new product launches. Top wear (t-shirts, casual shirts and tops) tend to outperform other segments during summer season."

All of them are also very positive and hopeful of the remaining portion of the season before rains take over, which heralds the start of the discounting or 'Sale' season.
