With the theme of"Growth,profitability and new opportunities for LED lighting in a challenging economy,"this year's Strategies in Light Europe 2012 conference takes place in Munich,Germany on September 18-20,reports Bob Steele.
Strategies Unlimited and PennWell will present the third annual Strategies in Light Europe conference at the M.O.C.Event Center in Munich,Germany on September 18-20,2012.This year's conference theme is"Growth,profitability and new opportunities for LED lighting in a challenging economy."SIL Europe is focused entirely on the market and technology for LEDs in lighting applications,reflecting the fact that lighting is the dominant application of LEDs in Europe.
In addition to European regional considerations,issues regarding the adoption of LED lighting on a global basis will also be addressed at the conference.As observed by keynote speaker Christian Schraft,senior vice president–head of corporate strategy and marketing at Osram AG,"SSL and green lighting in general are set for growth as the lighting industry is being transformed,with government mandates underpinning the shift to higher energy efficiency.Moreover,'light management,'which includes the transformation from switches to intelligent networks,as well as energy efficiency and quality of light,are driving market transformation into an intelligent,networked solutions business."

From mid-morning on Wednesday,September 19,the conference splits into parallel tracks,which are focused on Market and Technology.The Market Track will cover a wide range of subjects,ranging from new European initiatives for SSL to the status of standards development to lighting applications and case studies.Of special interest is a presentation reviewing the current status on knowledge regarding lighting and health.An update on the latest market study of LED retrofit lamps will also be provided.
The Technology Track will address and equally wide range of topics,ranging from luminaire and system design to networks and controls to phosphors,packaging and optics.A special session on color quality will offer the latest research results on this subject,which is of increasing importance to the solid-state lighting industry.A special session will also be devoted to test,measurement and reliability of LED lighting products.
