A New Steel Mill in Southern Iran Was Inaugurated by The Iranian President on June 27th

It's reported that a new steel mill in southern Iran was inaugurated by the Iranian President on June 27th. The Pasargad steel mill is situated south of the capital Tehran and covers an area of 300 hectares, the total investment is reported to be near US$5.5 billion. The plant is reported to produce four million tons of sponge iron, 1.7 million tons of steel billets, six million tons of iron ore pellets and 2.75 million tons of steel slabs annually. Iranian Minister of Industry, Mining and Trade said that Iran plans to increase its steel output to 55 million tons annually by the end of March 2015. Currently, Iran is reportedly the biggest steel producer in the Middle East and North Africa.
