GMTC Planned to Continue Its Expansion Plan Enhance Its Upstream Capacity by Half

Taiwan's Gloria Material Technology Corp (GMTC) planned to continue its expansion plan enhance its upstream capacity by half, in spite of the fact that the environmental approval issue. It's learned that GMTC planned to install a new 50-metric ton electric arc furnace (EAF) which is capable of producing 150,000 tons of crude steel per year at its Tainan works, aiming to replace an 35 metric EAF with 100,000 tons of melting capacity per year. GMTC has not given up this expansion plan even though the company hasn't received environmental approval. Meanwhile, the official said that the expansion plan will take around three year to complete if it receives the approval.
