Taishan Steel Plans to Commission Two Stainless Cold Rolling (CR) Mills IN 2013

Shangdong-based Taishan Steel plans to commission two stainless cold rolling (CR) mills at its works in Laiwu city in 2013.

The company expects to put a 20,000 tpy precision strip mill into operation in June, 2013. The mill is designed to produce strips with thickness of 0.05mm~1mm and width of 10mm-1,250mm, mainly used in the sectors such as computer, medical equipment and auto components.

Besides, the firm plans to commission a 500,000 tpy CR strip mill next year. The mill will produce CR stainless strip with thickness of 0.15mm~3mm and width of 800mm~1,600mm.

The official of Taishan Steel states that the firm has to turn to develop higher-end products in order to compete in the Chinese steel industry.

Furthermore, the company expects to increase its stainless CR capacity at the works to 1.5 million tpy in the long term, including 1 million tpy of precision strips.
