Turkish Flat Steel Fell Down Compared to The Previous Month

According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute, in September this year Turkey's flat steel imports including hot rolled, cold rolled, coated and narrow strip steel fell by 4% compared to the previous month and were down 14.7% compared to September 2011 totaling 433,995 tonnes. The value of these imports amounted to USD 311.5 million decreasing by 3.1% as compared to August this year and down 26.6% YoY.

Meanwhile, in the first 9 months of the current year Turkey's flat steel imports amounted to 3.7 million tonnes decreasing 5.4% compared to the corresponding period of 2011.

In the first 9 months, Turkey's hot rolled flat steel imports from Ukraine amounted to 800,269 tonnes increasing by 8.8% YoY. Turkey's second biggest source of hot rolled flat steel imports in January to September this year was Russia with 677,289 tonnes down 33.3% compared to the same period of 2011.
