Brazil's Motor Vehicle Output in Aug Increased by 5.3% From July But Fell by 22.4% Yearly

Brazil's motor vehicle output in August this year increased by 5.3 percent from the previous month, but fell by 22.4 percent year on year to 265,910 units (excluding agricultural vehicles), according to the Brazilian Motor Vehicle Manufacturers Association (Anfavea). Meanwhile, in the first eight months of this year, the country's motor vehicle output (excluding agricultural vehicles) decreased 18 percent year on year to 2,084,594 units.

New motor vehicle registrations (excluding agricultural vehicles) in Brazil totaled 272,492 units in August this year, down 7.6 percent compared to July and decreasing by 17.2 percent year on year. 18.1 percent of this figure consisted of imported new vehicles. In the first eight months of the current year, the country's new motor vehicle registrations (excluding agricultural vehicles) decreased by 9.7 percent year on year to 2,230,180 units.

Meanwhile, Brazil's motor vehicle exports in August this year (excluding agricultural vehicles) totaled 31,651 units, decreasing by 7.5 percent compared to the previous month and down 50.6 percent year on year. In the January-August period this year, Brazil's motor vehicle exports totaled 235,431 units, down 38.1 percent year on year.

Meanwhile, in August the revenue generated by Brazilian motor vehicle exports (excluding agricultural vehicles) increased by five percent month on month to $805.75 million, declining by 40.8 percent year on year. In the first eight months of the current year, in Brazil the revenue generated by motor vehicle exports (excluding agricultural vehicles) decreased by 30.2 percent year on year to $6.04 billion.
