Turnover of the DIY channel Homebase increased by 9.3% to £400m in the second quarter of the 2013/2014 financial year (end February). Like-for-like turnover increased by 11%. In the second quarter three stores were closed, reducing the number of sales outlets to 333. Accumulated over the first six months of 2013/2014 turnover amounted to £822m, representing an increase of 4.4% vis à vis the previous year. The growth in turnover in the second quarter resulted primarily from the sale of seasonal goods, which accounted for around 40 % of total turnover.
The Argos business division, in which the furni-ture retail activities of HRG are consolidated, was able to increase its turnover in the second quarter by 2.4% to £889m.
