Canfor Saw Its Positive Performance Compared with Last Year Continue in The Third Quarter

Canfor saw its positive performance compared with last year continue in the third quarter as well. The Lumber business again fared much better than the Pulp and Paper division, as it had in previous quarters. Altogether the group raised its turnover to CAD2.385bn in the first nine months of 2013. At the same time, operating profits skyrocketed to CAD277.5m, with net profits leaping to CAD215.4m.

The Lumber division generated the majority of operating profits during the reporting period with CAD247.7m. The division’s turnover jumped to CAD1.689bn. Canfor said that the Lumber division’s revenues and earnings remained higher than last year in the third quarter; however, they had fallen compared with the second quarter of 2013 by virtue of lower lumber prices in a quarterly average.
