The Association of the German Trade Fair Industry (AUMA) announced at its annual press conference that the numbers of exhibitors as well as visitors to the 134 national trade fairs held in Germany in 2011 were higher than at the respective previous events. The total figure of 159,945 exhibitors represents the highest rate of growth of +3.1% since 2007. The total numbers of exhibitors had still been developing positively in 2007 (+3.8%) and 2008 (+1.9%). This was followed, however, by a reduction of 4.3% in the crisis year of 2009, which was unable to be made up for by resumed growth of +0.2% in 2010.
