iPhone SE Set To Look A Lot Like iPhone 5s

Apple's forthcoming return to a smaller iPhone form factor will look extremely familiar, according to a new report.

iPhone SE Set To Look A Lot Like iPhone 5s

The iPhone SE will be unveiled at a special March 21 Apple event. This much we know. However, there have been conflicting reports about what the new petite smartphone will look like.

On the one hand, some are saying that the iPhone SE will resemble Apple's last 4-inch phone, the iPhone 5S. On the other, some have said that it will resemble nothing more than a shrunken iPhone 6.

Now a new report from 9to5Mac appears to confirm that the iPhone SE will look "almost exactly the same" as the two-and-a-half-year-old iPhone 5S.

This means that it will have a boxy appearance rather than the current generation's curved edges. Apparently, there's a chance that the front edges could be very slightly curved, but not to a massively noticeable degree.

One other difference is that the iPhone SE's edges will be matte, losing the scratch-prone mirror finish of the iPhone 5S.

The report also confirms previous suggestions that the iPhone SE will come packing an A9 CPU, like the iPhone 6S, and an NFC chip for Apple Pay support. Also confirmed is the presence of a 12-megapixel camera, just like that of the iPhone 6S.

It seems the iPhone SE will come with 16GB and 64GB storage options, and that the colours will match the iPhone 6S.

We also believe that the iPhone SE will take the iPhone 5S's place in the roster, including that device's £379 starting price.
