The China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) has stated that in April this year China's average aggregate daily crude steel output totaled 2.1883 million mt, up 2.32 percent month on month, constituting the highest level in recent years, while overall Chinese crude steel output during the month in question amounted to 65.65 million mt, up 6.8 percent year on year. In the January-April period of the current year, China's crude steel output amounted to 258.152 million mt, up 8.4 percent on year-on-year basis.
Furthermore, in the first four months this year China's outputs of pig iron and finished steel totaled 238.878 million mt and 334.262 million mt respectively, up seven percent and 10.5 percent year on year. In April alone, Chinese output of pig iron and finished steel amounted to 60.652 million mt and 87.606 million mt, up six percent and 8.1 percent respectively, both on year-on-year basis.
