Taiwan Exported Steel Bars in Last December,Rising Significantly by 19.3% From a Month Ago

According to data, Taiwan exported 26,822 tons of steel bars in last December, rising significantly by 19.3% from a month ago. However, the export prices averaged at NT$20,424/ton, slumping by NT$1,863/ton from a month earlier.

Also, the country’s export prices of steel bars have decreased for consecutive four months.

Market insiders said that the higher exports of steel bars in last December were caused by weak demand in domestic market. Nevertheless, China Steel Corp. (CSC)’s price cut on steel bars led the export prices to fall to the lowest level of 2012.

In 2012, Taiwan’s export of steel bars amounted to 301,932 tons. The export prices averaged at NT$24,218/ton.
