China exported 7.76 million mt of finished steel in August this year, down 3.72 percent month on month, while it exported 56.83 million mt of finished steel in the January-August period of the year, rising by 35.4 percent year on year, according to data issued by the Chinese customs authorities on September 8.
In August, China imported 1.17 million mt of finished steel, decreasing by 4.10 percent month on month, while its finished steel imports in the January-August period amounted to 9.64 million mt, up 4.4 percent year on year.
China imported 74.88 million mt of iron ore in August, declining by 9.26 percent month on month, and imported 614.38 million mt of iron ore in the first eight months of the year, up 16.9 percent on year-on-year basis. In August this year, China exported 660,000 mt of metallurgical coke, up 32 percent month on month, while it exported 5.09 million mt of coke in the first eight months of the year, increasing by 111 percent year on year.
