Giga Solar Noted Shipments in 2Q12 Are Likely to Show Growth of 25%

Solar cell conductive paste maker Giga Solar noted shipments in the second quarter are likely to show growth of 25%compared to the first quarter. The increase in shipments is due to the anti-dumping and anti-subsidy duties announced by the US government. The effects will likely bring positive outcomes for Taiwan's solar supply chain, said Giga Solar.

Chi-jen Chen, chairman of Giga Solar, indicated that solar cell customers have been experiencing high capacity utilization rates.Hence the firm believes revenues in the second half of the year will be better.

Chen added that the anti-dumping and anti-subsidy duties by the US government have been helping solar cell makers in Taiwan to see a rapid increase in capacity utilization rates. Therefore, demand for conductive pastes has been rising.Shipment growths of aluminum and silver aluminum pastes in the second quarter are approximately 8%and 20%on quarter, added Chen.

The market believes Giga Solar's June revenues to be close to NT$400 million(US$13.38 million).
