In February this year, production in the Mexican car and light vehicle industry rose 1.4 percent compared to the previous month and was up 1.6 percent over February 2012, amounting to 246,197 units, according to the the Mexican Association of Car Distributors (AMDA). In the first two months of the year, the country's car and light vehicle production rose by 9.9 percent year on year to 489,052 units.
Meanwhile, Mexican car and light commercial vehicle sales to the domestic market totaled 80,193 units in February this year, rising 7.3 percent year on year, while the country's car and light commercial vehicle exports amounted to 175,338 units, decreasing 11.3 percent compared to February 2012. In the first two months of 2013, Mexican car and light commercial vehicle sales to the domestic market rose 9.6 percent to 164,462 units, while its car and light commercial vehicle exports were stable at 353,900 units, both compared to the first two months of 2012.
