Willen Hospice, based in Milton Keynes, which specialises in caring for people whose illnesses no longer respond to curative treatment, is now benefiting from solar power thanks to an initiative from Conergy, SMA Solar UK and local PV installer, FSG Energy.
Conergy designed the system and donated the solar panels and the mounting. Conergy also helped the charity through the planning process due to Willen Hospice being located within a conservation area. SMA donated the inverter and monitoring device with FSG Energy installing the 4kW system which is expected to product around 3,700 units of electricity per year.
Paul Hinson, Chief Executive of Willen Hospice said "We are thrilled with the new solar energy system which has been so generously donated by Conergy, SMA and FSG Energy. It will provide us with a reduced cost, sustainable energy source, allowing our patients, loved ones and Willen Hospice staff to benefit from the ongoing source of revenue".
Jan Van Laethem, Managing Director of SMA Solar UK commented "I am proud that SMA is committed to supporting local Milton Keynes charity, Willen Hospice, a cause that works so hard to improve the lives of its patients. We are thrilled that two global leaders in solar technology have teamed up with a local photovoltaic installer to make a significant difference to the Hospice and SMA are delighted to be part of it."
