Irvine, Calif. – Toshiba unveiled Tuesday its Canvio Home Backup & Share network-attached storage (NAS) system, billed as an easy-to-use storage hub for connected homes.
The Canvio NAS is designed to give home-network users easy access to a variety of stored content on a contextual basis — from device to device, screen to screen and location to location.
Data is stored securely in a familiar, centralized location.
The Canvio NAS is compatible with Windows PCs, Macs, iPhones and iPads, and Android-based smartphones and tablets, as well as DLNA-compatible media streaming devices, Toshiba said.
Canvio Home is available in 2TB ($199 suggested retail) and 3TB ($259) capacities through select Toshiba dealers and on Toshiba.com/US.
Both versions are backed by three-year limited warranties.
"Imagine having access to all your important digital assets — around your home, around the world, or through your portable devices, and you'll know what it's like with the new Canvio Home, an easier, safer way to backup, share, stream and store your files and multimedia," said Maciek Brzeski, Toshiba digital products division branded storage products marketing and development VP. "It is so much more than just a box to drop your files in. This is safe, private storage that you can share."
