Taiwan solar firms have been looking to recruit new staff for the past two quarters due to increasing orders. In addition, the solar industry in Greater China has been adding workers with non-engineering backgrounds such as finance and business.Despite the seeming booming industry, most people still prefer to stay in the semiconductor industry which has less market turbulence, said industry sources.
Solar firms such as Solartech,Green Energy Technology(GET),Gigastorage, and Sino-American Silicon(SAS)have been hoping to add more recruits to accommodate their fast-growing capacity utilization rates.Nevertheless, the solar market has been labeled as"in oversupply",hence recruitment has not been successful, said industry sources.
Despite low prices, many firms have been experiencing increasing orders compared to 2011.But most of the suitable workers would rather stay in the semiconductor industry which is relatively stable compared to the solar industry.
Solartech hopes to add a significant number of employees to push capacity utilization rates to full due to rising orders.SAS,GET,and Gigastorage announced pay rises and plans to add more workers on June 13.Industry leading firms such as Motech and Gintech also showed willingness to attract more professional staff.
