New Carbide Grades Aim to Provide a More Consistent Standard in Cutting Quality

New carbide grades aim to provide a more consistent standard in cutting quality, Ceratizit says.

Ceratizit's three new product lines for water-jet nozzles are as follows: Economy, Standard and Premium. Extreme pressures of up to 6,200 bar and high impact speed up to around 1,000 m/sec make water an optimum cutting tool for a variety of materials, but the focusing tubes are subject to considerable stress caused by the intense abrasion during the so called abrasive cutting. Ceratizit says that its carbide grades guarantee a high and consistent standard in the cutting quality.

The Economy Line is the most recent addition to the company's product range of abrasive nozzles. "We have developed the Economy Line specifically for applications where cost optimization is decisive, simultaneously without having to forgo European quality," Jan Heidle, product manager for water-jet nozzles at Ceratizit, explained.

The Standard Line offers a tool life of up to 80 hours and an all-rounder nozzle for standard applications as well as in demanding industrial contexts.

The Premium Line offers a tool life increase of up to 30% with an improved relation between hardness and toughness. "The higher cutting speed together with the reduced abrasion offer the customer a direct added value, and on an international level even a considerable competitive edge," Heidle added.
