Brewery Throws out The Labels for a 'premium' Look

A Belgian brewery has announced it will do away with labels for its PET bottles.

Martens Brewery, which became known for its digitally printed PET bottles late last year, is again leveraging Direct Print industrial-scale digital printing technology from KHS.

The Martens Pils variety of beer has been chosen for the label-less look, which conveys a premium product that's also sustainable.

KHS, and subsidiary NMP Systems, are Martens' co-development partners, and Direct Print Powered by KHS is the first industrial-scale digital printing process with low-migration LED UV-cured inks for food-safe decoration of PET bottles.

The Direct Print team at KHS will continue to bring new technical features to its next-version equipment later this year.

The company says to expect "higher quality decorations and the capability to individualise each bottle with variable image capability – at a higher level of industrial performance".
