The BMW M235i has been spied almost entirely free of camouflage, revealing most of the production car’s exterior design.
CarAdvice’s spy photographers captured the 2 Series coupe during an official photo shoot in which all but the sporty BMW’s boot and rear bumper are visible.
The images reveal for the first time the 2 Series’ new headlights, which are significantly slimmer than those of the 1 Series hatchback on which the new coupe is based.
A kink at the inside lower corners adds character to the front end, and integrates well with the aggressively styled M Sport front bumper and its curvaceous, gaping air intakes.
Strong contours along the doors and blue M Sport brake calipers behind 18-inch alloy wheels continue the sporting theme to rear where we get a peek at the M235i’s dual black-tipped exhaust outlets and bootlid lip spoiler.
Earlier spy photos have confirmed the interior of the 2 Series will be almost identical to that of the 1 Series.
Likewise, the BMW M235i will inherit its 3.0-litre turbocharged six-cylinder engine from the M135i. It has been rumoured that BMW may push its output up from 235kW to 250kW for the two-door, however, to match the outgoing BMW 1 Series M Coupe.
The BMW 2 Series range will arrive in Australia in early 2014 following it unveiling at the September’s Frankfurt motor show and the start of production in November.
