Russia-based Internet service providers, along with growing demand for hardware used in data centers, have resumed placement of orders with Taiwan-based PC and server vendors/makers, according to these vendors/makers.
The Russia market has turned stagnant since the US and main European countries imposed economic sanctions against Russia over Ukraine issues in 2014. As a result, Taiwan-based vendors/makers of PCs, servers and other type of IT hardware have strictly controlled inventory levels in the Russia market to minimize negative impact, the sources indicated.
However, demand for PCs, servers and other types of IT hardware in the Russia market has appeared to be rebounding, the sources said. Yandex, the largest search engine in Russia, has released orders for servers for use in data centers with shipments scheduled for the third quarter, the sources indicated.
Taiwan-based server maker AIC indicated that it will set up a business office in Russia in the third quarter to provide services for Yandex, its existing client, and compete for orders from Internet service provider Mail.Ru Group and social network website.
