Atlas Box & Crating has engaged Groom Energy to implement multi-measure energy efficiency upgrades at its two Atlas facilities in Sutton, Massachusetts, US.
The upgrades together will cut down the total energy consumption at the locations by 1.25M kilowatt-hours or 55% of their total energy consumption.
According to the company, the energy saving projects will have the equivalent effect of minimizing 1.5M pounds of carbon annually.
Groom Energy, which will perform building energy assessments, completed upgrades in compressed air, LED lighting and vending machine energy controls.
Both the companies are further planning upgrades pertaining to heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) that include adding variable frequency drives to ventilation systems and intelligent controls for packaged rooftop units.
Groom Energy replaced existing fluorescent lighting at the company's interior warehouse and installed Digital Lumens intelligent LED lighting.
The new system will enable occupancy-based lighting in both facilities, minimizing energy by operating only when necessary. It will also allow Atlas to track and manage the system through easy-to-use LightRules software from Digital Lumens.
Atlas Box and Crating GPE Frank Tavares said, "These projects provide great financial and environmental benefits as they lower our costs and demonstrate our commitment to reducing carbon emissions."
Atlas Box & Crating designs and manufactures packaging products, systems as well as solutions for both basic industrial and high-technology product manufacturers and distributors.
