The Decisive Factor Here Was a Sharp Rise in Softwood Lumber Exports to Buyers in Africa

Swedish exports of softwood lumber and planed products rose perceptibly again at the end of last year to arrive at a figure of 865, 000 m³ in December 2011, almost 11% higher than in the same month of the year before. The decisive factor here was a sharp rise in softwood lumber exports to buyers in Africa, which were raised by 53% to 298, 300 m³. This marked growth was mainly attributable to increased deliveries to Egypt. Contrary to the trend in the preceding months, exports to Asia fell by almost 12% to 149, 400 m³. A minor increase was achieved in exports to European buyers, which rose by roughly 2% to 416, 900 m³. Source: euwid-wood-products.com
