Speaking to Packaging News, Kerridge said that he hadn’t left the company but was in the process of overseeing a “managed transition” of his responsibilities to GPI.
He said: “This has been mutually agreed and there is nothing untoward. I have agreed to work on special projects through my notice period until the middle of next year. Fundamentally, the Benson team will form part of the European GPI team.”
Kerridge did not reveal his plans after completing his notice at GPI. He joined Benson in 2002 and has been instrumental in growing the company’s turnover to over £100m. In 2011, he led a management buyout at Benson.
At the start of 2014, US packaging giant GPI bought Benson Group in a $165m deal. Earlier this month, Medica Packaging separated from Benson and became independent.
