New Belgium Is Hosting a Summit of National Bike Advocacy Leaders at Its Headquarters

New Belgium Brewery, a Colorado beer maker that has often tied its fortunes to the bicycle, is hosting a summit of national bike advocacy leaders at its headquarters, starting Thursday. New Belgium is hosting 65 people from more than 40 bike nonprofits for three days. Presenters at the summit will include?David "DK" Kemp, the former Fort Collins Bicycle Coordinator and current Active Transportation Coordinator in Davis, California; Maribeth Gallion with L.A.'s Bicycle Kitchen; Bike Denver's Piep van Heuven; Alex Wilson from West Town Bikes in Chicago; and Jodie Medeiros from the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition.

? New?Belgium?bike advocacy efforts have included its traveling festival Tour de Fat, which has raised more than $2 million for biking nonprofits and last year alone raised more than $500,000. In addition,?New?Belgium's Clips Beer and Film Festival has raised more than $200,000, with much of that also going to bike nonprofits. New?Belgium's employees receive a custom bike at their one-year anniversary. The League of American Bicyclists has named the employee-owned business a Platinum-level Bicycle Friendly Business.
