A quartet of low-cost but feature-packed gadgets to make life that little bit more exciting.
ASUS MEMOPAD ($199)
ASUS's new ultra-cheap yet feature-packed 7-inch Android tablet has a 1024x600 pixel, 10-point multi-touch LED-backlit display, a 1 megapixel front-facing camera and SD card storage expansion of up to 32GB. It has 16GB internal storage. It runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and is powered by a 1 gigahertz VIA processor.
NETGEAR WIFI EXTENDER ($149)
NETGEAR'S WN3500RP range extender is an easy to configure device that extends your home WiFi's range and overcomes black spots. To get started, you configure it to join your home WiFi network. It then rebroadcasts your WiFi signal. It extends both 2.4 and 5 gigahertz home networks and has an ethernet port to physically link another device, audio port for speakers and USB port for an external printer.
SAMSUNG WB250F WIFI CAMERA ($279)
THE WB250F is the premium model in Samsung's new SMART Camera 2.0 range of six relatively inexpensive WiFi enabled pocket cameras. Unlike last year's Galaxy camera, they don't use Google's Android operating system. The WB250F has an 18x optical zoom, a 14.2 megapixel BSI CMOS sensor and 24mm lens.
JABRA WIRELESS HEADPHONES ($299)
JABRA'S Revo Wireless headset speaks to you when you first turn it on, offering instructions on connecting to Bluetooth. It also offers NFC (Near Field Communication) connectivity. It's wireless but you can attach a USB cord for making Skype calls with your laptop. It has a built-in microphone and a range of relatively easy to access settings, like its turntable-style volume control, and call control settings.
