Protex International Has Acquired Chartwell International Inc

Protex International has acquired Chartwell International Inc., based in the United States. Protex International says it pursues its external growth policy by targeting acquisitions that bring scientific added-value products and expertise that complement existing Group activities.

"Chartwell offers some exciting alternative technologies to silane, which can present problems of stability and hydrolysis," the company says. "This new acquisition now joins with the Protex International Group and will offer high-technology products which meet current and future regulations, regarding health and safety, ecology and the environment."

The facilities of Chartwell will be soon transferred to a location in Massachusetts, where Protex International has an existing production unit. Synthron will increase production capacity at the Auzouer-en-Touraine production unit, making Chartwell products for the European market. Synthron will manage its European business. Both Synthron and Chartwell will retain separate centres and facilities for R&D.

Robert MOOR, CEO of Protex International, says he is delighted by the new acquisition. “This company has interested us for several years and we are delighted that Chartwell will now be integrated into the Protex International Group."

Protex International, via its subsidiary Synthron, offers the Paints & Coatings Industry a range of speciality additives for paints, varnishes and sealants, printing inks. Synthron has a range of antifoams, spreading and levelling agents, substrate wetting agents, dispersing agents for organic and mineral based pigments, catalysts for curing, rheology modifiers, antistatic agents and more.
