Fans of Defunct British Sports Car Manufacturer TVR May Feel Heartened

TVR Website Hints at Revival with "Never Say Never"

Fans of defunct British sports car manufacturer TVR may feel heartened by the latest update to the brand's website.

The homepage of TVR.co.uk now features the car maker's badge alongside the words 'Never say never', potentially providing a glimmer of hope for a revival – unlikely as it may seem.

Belgian enthusiast website Autofans.be reports the domain name is registered by a media company called HomePage Media Ltd. It's unclear whether the website's content? is still controlled by TVR or now in the hands of an unrelated party.

Although there's no official word of a comeback, the mood of the new webpage is decidedly more upbeat than it was earlier this year, when it read: "We support all owners of TVR sports cars by ensuring supply of spares and development of alternative drivetrains. Nevertheless at the moment we do not manufacturer new cars. Any such claims in various media are fake."

In July last year, TVR owner Nikolay Smolensky told Autocar he had "given up hope" of restarting vehicle production, claiming spiralling costs and high customer expectations had made a return unviable. Smolensky planned to take the TVR name to a new business that builds portable wind turbines.

TVR built its last car in 2006, more than half a century after the Blackpool-based manufacturer was founded in 1947.
