Renault has released teaser images of a second city car concept as it explores design themes for the next-generation Renault Twingo.
Like the Renault Twin’Z concept that was revealed earlier this month, the new as-yet-unnamed concept has been styled under the leadership of Renault design boss Laurens van den Acker and comes in under the ‘Play’ phase in the company’s current ‘human lifecycle’ design strategy.
Designed and developed entirely by Renault Design, the team says the concept is “an expression of the brand’s passion and an illustration of how different takes on the same city car are possible”.
While Twin’Z concept has a distinct green tinge thanks to its pure-electric propulsion system (not to mention its dramatic fluorescent wheels and trim highlights), the new concept appears to have a more sporting focus.
Rally-inspired fog lights and red-edged grille mesh adorn the front end, while aggressive alloys and racing decals emphasise the theme at the sides.
Renault’s newest concept car will debut at the 2013 Monaco Formula One Grand Prix on May 24 before performing dynamic demonstrations at a series of events including July’s Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK.
